Regional Security Information Analyst

By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.JOB SUMMARYThe Security Information Analyst is the senior member of the Jordan Emergency team responsible for the safety and security of the team and operations, reporting to the Emergency Response Director. The SIA will be a ‘self starter’ in that they will be able to determineGENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) provide geopolitical analysis and write high quality and politically neutral security reports based on data provided by field teams, media reports and other relevant sourcesb) produce relevant security threat assessments through identifying, monitoring, assessing and analyzing various threats/ trends in the region with an emphasis on how these might affect staff and/or operations.c) maintain a database of incidents relevant to the agency and areas operated in, in a searchable format for ease of referenced) research and assess new areas of operations for potential expansion, as directed by the ERDe) attend and represent the agency in security meetings/ briefings and related as directed by the ERDf) form an integral part of the crisis and incident management team (when activated)g) brief new staff and visitors on trends and safety concerns; convene regular team briefings and prepare briefs for key decision makers as the situation necessitatesh) produce briefing documents on significant developmentsi) analyse and determine which threats might be specific to different demographics: gender/ ethnicity/ geographical and recommend mitigation procedures accordinglyj) Other analytical and research assignments as requiredQualifications:- Excellent communication skills, fluent Arabic and English
- demonstrated experience in report writing in English
- 4+ years in humanitarian and development
- Fluent in computers (MS Office/ primarily advanced use of Word and Excel) and smartphone technology
- Ability to multi-task in a rapid and stressful environment
- Mapping: able to read maps (electronic or printed)
- Desirable skill set includes: first hand working experience in the region, remote supervision and management experience,
- 3 years in security officer or similar role.
Languages:- Arabic: Fluent; English: Excellent
