Teachers Coordinator

Title: Teachers Coordinator
Department: Educational Services Program
Reports to: Field Coordinator
Location: Zatari and Azraq refugee camps (Jordan)

Position Summary:
Teacher coordinator will play the pivotal role in managing, directing, empowering and coordinating Syrian remedial teachers working in RI centers in Azraq/Zatari camp. He/she will work in close collaboration with other RI staff in camp and with the Jordanian staff working in the formal school run by the Ministry of Education.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Recruit and train Syrian teachers for remedial education for refugee children and youth
  • Assist with lesson plan development based on Ministry of Education curriculum and assist with coordinating classes in different subjects.
  • Plan, design and implement interactive teaching and learning strategies designed to enhance learning, improve the overall well-being of students and encourage a sense of normalcy for vulnerable refugee children.
  • Ensure equal access for girls and boys through intensive community outreach, arranging separate classes for girls and boys and providing other gender-based considerations as deemed necessary.
  • Manage scheduling, attendance, performance and payment of teachers in coordination with RI program management team, and specifically with Center Coordinators.
  • Provide support through guidance and advice for teachers as needed.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Case Manager Coordinator and Center Coordinators.
  • Initiate and participate in the development and implementation of new, creative educational activities.
  • Ensure coordination with other education services provided in Camp is upheld.
  • Monitoring evaluation process for remedial teachers, and suggesting training plan accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as needed.


Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BA or BS in education, or related field. Master degree preferred.
  • At least five years experience in education or management related position.
  • Experience working with children and youth, especially refugees, will be considered as an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong integrity, honesty and determination to uphold the values of the organization.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple people and tasks calmly while facing pressure.
  • Use of creativity to find alternative solutions.
  • Arabic fluency is required, good command of English is strongly preferred.
  • Desire to learn, willingness to ask questions, cultural sensitivity, and flexibility are desired characteristics.
