Protection Case Worker -Mafraq and Irbid


Job Description and Requirements
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:  responsible for providing ongoing case management support and expertise through identification, comprehensive assessment, case planning, follow up and referral of vulnerable household’s protection and legal needs. Protection Caseworkers will work with vulnerable Syrians and Jordanians to address the challenges they face in accessing documentation/registration, and the resultant protection concerns.
Specific Objectives:
1. Case Management/Case Accompaniment
  • Identify vulnerable households, conduct home-visits and follow up;
  • Conduct comprehensive assessment of identified vulnerable households to determine the household needs;
  • Provide relevant information and raise awareness of vulnerable households regarding the protection benefits of documentation/registration to maximize their ability to make informed decisions;
  • Develop case plan with action points, time lines and support services with the aim to alleviate the needs identified in the household especially around documentation/registration challenges and/or complex legal issues and related protection concerns;
  • Connect and refer vulnerable individuals to appropriate internal and external referrals to relevant organizations and services and follow up on the outcome of the referrals;
  • Liaise and coordinate with other team members, particularly the legal adviser, in order to provide up to date and relevant information and manage cases appropriately;
  • Accompany vulnerable beneficiaries to access legal documents as required and directed by the supervisor;
  • Monitor on-going case plan and provide weekly/monthly follow-up to households as required until case closure;
  • Act as an advocate of the beneficiaries with documentation/registration challenges and/or complex legal issues, and related protection concerns;
  • Complete follow up case notes and recommend for case closure when appropriate;
  • Ensure that beneficiary case files (identification, case plan, follow up case notes and case closure forms) are prepared and securely stored in hard and soft copies;

2. Communication and Coordination
  • Participate in internal and external trainings and staff development, as directed by management;
  • Through regular referrals, ensure the involvement of other organizations and broader community networks to increase vulnerable households’ access to services;
  • Establish good and regular communication with project beneficiaries and various service providers;
  • Establish good communication and coordination with all ICMC departments and project staff;
3. Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Assist with facilitating focus group discussions and semi-structured interviews with beneficiaries in order to monitor changing protection concerns facing Syrian refugees;
  • Evaluate protection concerns and client satisfaction using ICMC’s quantitative evaluation tools
  • Assist with various administrative duties, as required by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications and competencies:
  • University degree in social work, protection, humanitarian studies, or related field;
  • Minimum of two years experience in a related position, preferably in the NGO sector;
  • Proven experience working in the field of GBV and/or child protection/law;
  • Proven experience in case management and working on protection issues facing vulnerable people;
  • Ability to facilitate groups and lead discussions on sensitive topics;
  • Background in research and analysis highly desirable;
  • Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation;
  • Proven experience working with refugees or vulnerable people;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Excellent written and oral Arabic language skills, excellent/very good English;
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, flexibility, and able to work effectively in a team.
