ECCD Officer

Title: ECCD Officer (Early Childhood Care and Development)         
Reports to: Education Program Manager
Start date: February 16, 2018
Location: Azraq and Zaatari refugee camps (Jordan)

In Jordan, Relief International is the primary provider of remedial and certified non-formal education for refugees living in Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps. Relief International is expending its services to include also children from 0-5 years old (and their parents) who will benefit from day care and other services in RI’s early care centers in Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps.

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Education Program Manager, and in close collaboration with Senior Education Technical Advisor, Drop-out officer and RI’s education team, ECCD officer will coordinate the proper functioning of two early care centers and ensure effective and high quality implementation of ECCD activities.   

Position Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop the schedule, modules and operational work plans of ECCD activities including better parenting training
  • Support nursery assistants and facilitators in conducting ECCD activities when needed
  • Provide technical support to nursery assistants and facilitators in terms of capacity building through delivery of trainings, coaching and follow-up support
  • Review and monitor day-to-day ECCD program activities
  • Identify needs in ECCD centers and prepare purchase requests
  • Contribute to timely and high quality progress reports, program reports and donor reports
  • Produce timely reports for internal use on activities in each project site, highlighting challenges, best practices and lessons learned  
  • Represent RI at relevant meetings
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications and requirements:
Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in a social development related field (kindergarten studies, psychology, sociology, special education, animation) plus a pre, or in-service teacher training course in the ECCD field
  • Experience of working at least 2 years in kindergartens or nurseries
  • Excellent knowledge of ECCD frameworks, principles and techniques
  • Excellent in working with children, in practicing positive discipline and positive group management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Rich experience in delivering trainings, providing coaching and mentorship
  • Flexible, understanding, and adaptable; able to work in a low-resource environment
  • Team player

Preferred:
  • Master degree in Early Childhood Care and Development
  • Work experience with Syrian refugees in camps
  • Very good English language skills
