Technical Youth Assistant "Nationals Only"

1. Roles and Responsibilites
The NRC Jordan Youth Programme in Host Communities supports Syrian refugee and vulnerable
Jordanian youth (aged 16-26) to be actve members of their communites through provision of
training, recreational activities, youth-led social initiatives, and volunteering. The role of Youth
Technical Assistant is required to support the youth social development and community
engagement components of the Youth Programme.
The Youth Technical Assistant will undertake and support the NRC Youth Programme by:
participating in implementation on a daily basis in the Youth Programme activities in partnership
with Community Based Organisations, supporting the education process, conducting field
outreach with the community, and monitoring day-to-day implementation and coordination with
the Youth Team Leader.
Generic responsibilites 

  • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  •  Assist a range of support with the implementation of the Core Competency portfolioaccording to plan of action.
  • Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated.
  • Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support is being provided, in order to be most effective in supporting the team.
  • Use initiative in day to day problem solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards for the area of work.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise.
Specific responsibilities
• Monitors and supports the whole process of the designated classes from lesson plan
progress, trainers’ progress, curriculum implementation, and students’ skills acquired.
• Identifies any development needs in the courses and class flow and search for solutions
with the involvement of the specialized trainer.
• Conducts outreach activities with the local Syrian refugees and host community and serve
as a link between NRC programs and the local community.
• Submits written field reports after community mobilization sessions, and monitoring
reports.
• Forms training programs to support educational improvements and curricular activities.

2. Competencies
Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired

• Experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery
context.
• Knowledge and experience within a relevant administration, craft or technical field and
ideally a relevant vocational qualification.
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
• Some knowledge of English.
Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Qualification requirement: Vocational/Tawjihi degree or equivalent
Years of Experience: 1
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to fluctuating hours and duties.
• Native Arabic skills and proficiency in English language skills.
