Senior Accountant

The mission of Global Communities (formerly CHF International) is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe. Global Communities seeks a Senior Accountant for USAID YouthPower Program /Jordan Activity, a five-year, $23 million, USAID-funded contract. 
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for accounting management and oversight in compliance with USAID rules and regulations. The Senior Accountant will continually book and monitor project expenditures. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance. Ensure that all program expenses are in accordance with Global Communities and donor financial policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and handle the accounting reports such as (but not limited to) bank reconciliation and review petty cash reimbursements, invoicing, payments requests, travel and accommodation.
  • Assists the finance director in the financial and accounting of field office financial program funds in coordination with Global Communities and USAID guidelines.
  • Records all financial transactions in Quick Books
  • Completes monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Maintains local accounts and in coordination with human resources, processes monthly payroll to personnel. Prepares salaries along with the deduction for income tax department and Social security department.
  • Maintains financial management files of backup documentation for all local transactions as required by USAID regulations and Global Communities’ policies such as but not limited to filing of general ledger journal vouchers, accounts payable documentation, and other miscellaneous financial filings;
  • Conducts other general accounting duties, as assigned
Education
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting in required.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years’ of relevant international work experience in financial management is required.
  • Working knowledge of USAID financial rules and regulations strongly preferred. 
  • Prior USAID or other international donor experience or projects financial management required;
  • Verbal and written fluency in Arabic and English mandatory.
