Child Poverty Assistant

JOB TITLE: Field Assistant
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Child Poverty Program 
LOCATION: Amman-Jordan with 50%  travel in Jordan
POST TYPE: National
CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people

ROLE PURPOSE: The Field assistant is responsible for implementing deferent trainings and activates of a child protection projects with livelihoods components. S/he will work with the relevant partners, and Save the Children project staff to ensure the quality and relevance of the project interventions.  S/he will monitor the progress of child protection and child poverty activities within the assigned project, and to ensure outcomes are met within the timeframe.

SCOPE OF ROLE: 
Reports to: technically to Cpov Advisor, operational: Field Coordinator

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Training
  • Deliver Financial literacy training, PSS sessions, Employers sessions.
  • Support the field coordinators and Field Officers to develop tools for better follow up on implementation of the project activities in the targeted VTCs/CBO’s/Communities.
  • Conduct follow-up and support visits to the training locations in coordination with field coordinator\Cpov Advisor.


Employment/Small Grants
  • Support the field coordinator to develop mechanism to link target beneficiaries and employers, including apprenticeship schemes.
  • Support MEAL team to develop the evaluation criteria for the project activities during implementation.
  • Ensuring that all supported businesses are technically sound and relevant to the community context.
  • Deliver small grants and conduct regular and spot check visits.

  • Working in collaboration with the project team to prepare annual work plans and production of reports and other deliverables
  • Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of crisis or emergency.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential: 
  • Demonstrated experience in projects promoting child protection\livelihoods\social protection in areas including skills training, micro-lending, micro-savings, employment generation, alternative/additional income generation for vulnerable youth and/or vulnerable households in Jordan
  • Experience working with government representatives, partners, local community organizations, trade unions, and private industry to promote improved livelihoods for households, and the provision of social protection services
  • Experience in conducting and analysis of market surveys, participatory appraisal or assessment  and sustainable livelihoods monitoring and evaluation methods and tools, would be an asset
  • Proven ability to prepare work plans and reports
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in team situations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
