Project Officer-ECHO


PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

Mercy Corps is an international relief and development organization working in over 40 countries worldwide helping people build secure, productive and just communities. In Jordan, Mercy Corps has been actively working since 2002 to implement a variety of programs funded by US and European governments and private donors. The current portfolio includes programs focusing on improved water demand management, conflict mitigation and social cohesion programming, child, youth and inclusive education programming, and humanitarian relief programming, which includes emergency cash and protection programming. 

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Officer will implement daily activities under the ECHO project - in host communities in Jordan. The Project Officer will work with local CBO to identify beneficiaries; s/he will be responsible for the data collection and analysis in the field and identify cases for cash assistance. S/he will assist the project coordinator in monitoring selected beneficiaries. Based on the monitoring visits s/he will prepare and share with Mercy Corps weekly updates and monthly progress reports. The Field Monitor will report directly to the Project Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Assist the Case Manager in all operations related to the project implementation, including data collection (assessment) and analysis.

2.      Coordinate with local CBO and authorities in Mafraq and Irbid on identification and selection of refugees without or with limited documentation and the impact on their access to services.

3.      Collect and Analyze data in the field.

4.      Provide monitoring of cash distribution for vulnerable households during the winter season.

5.      Contribute to monitoring and evaluation efforts including monitoring, data collection, analysis, report writing.

Provide support for organizing visits, meeting, events, trainings and workshops.
Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: No supervisory responsibility.

REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Case Manager.

WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Project Manager, M&E Officer, Finance, Admin and Procurement teams, referral officer.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

University degree in Social Work or related field 
At least 1 year of related experience performing required tasks, preferably in complex emergency or relief context
At least 1 year experience in Data collection and analysis
Familiar with the local contact of the area to work in – Irbid and Mafraq.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Good command of English language skills.
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Familiar with mobile data collection, Surveys.
Good skills in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to Mafraq/Irbid/ Amman.
