Since then, Islamic Relief has grown into a charity that is active worldwide, putting development projects, emergency aid, and rebuilding projects into action in over 28 countries around the world.

Islamic Relief Jordan country office is seeking to hire the following position:

Project Assistant – Amman Office:

ORGANISATIONAL PURPOSE:

Islamic Relief Jordan is a country branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief Worldwide is an internationally recognized charity (Charity No.: 328158), looking back on nearly 30 years of experience in humanitarian and developmental aid. It was founded in 1984 in Birmingham, UK, in response to the devastating famine in the Horn of Africa. Since then, Islamic Relief has grown into a charity that is active worldwide, putting development projects, emergency aid, and rebuilding projects into action in over 28 countries around the world.

Islamic Relief Jordan (IRJ) began its operations in 1997, IRJ programme unit works toward introducing relevant interventions to Jordanians as well as Syrians and Palestinians refugees that would impact their lives and improve their life conditions. IRJ office has expanded with the Syrian crisis in 2011, with an annual income of 35,000,000GBP. The unit has successfully introduced interventions in a multi-sectors response, being the lead agency responsible for humanitarian assistance in the north of Jordan, reaching 200,000 refugees providing food, health care, cash for shelter and non-food items such as hygiene kits and winterization items in 2015 and 2016.

This post will be reporting to a project officer, and is required to spend 80% of the time in the field, with 20% of the time in Amman for office work, transportation is secured from Amman office to the field location.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Ensuring well organized and safe filing for the projects files and data.
Make sure that all assessments are entered to the system 100% accurate.
Conduct home visits for beneficiaries upon request.  
Make analysis including figures, statistics, and reporting as per project manager request
Responsible to distribute the items in line with donor and Islamic Relief policy.
Conduct administrative, logistical, and financial duties related to all aspects of project implementation 
Maintain effectively communication system and ensure information flow between project and relevant parties
Responsible for beneficiaries files, registration, and organization of work flow
Support the project team to reach targeted beneficiaries
Submit weekly, and monthly plans
Ability to manage financial and cash requirements for the project
Responsible for supervising projects in progress and ensures that all issues related to the projects are clarified and completed to avoid confusion and interruption during execution of projects.
Ability to manage warehousing (medications, vouchers, items).
Keep track of all activities, and ensure that all activities are in line with plans, in order to meet up with deadlines.
Ensure distributions are done according to policies and procedures
To ensure the accuracy of information provided to the manager.
Ability to write quality reports and submit on time
To participate in sectorial working groups meetings. Establish network with other NGO’s and CBO’s.
Proficiency computer skills is highly required especially MS. Word and Excel.
Fulfill any other tasks appointed by the project Officer.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCE

Technical skills and experience:

Strong problem solving skills
Proven expertise and understanding of emergency preparedness and response issues with a relevant technical competence in emergency needs assessment and implementation.
Good field experience in emergency and development programme management, preferably with non-government organizations.
Core humanitarian competencies:

Understanding of humanitarian contexts and principles:
Good understanding of humanitarian issues, with experience of/or ability to work directly with local NGOs or communities.
Sympathy with the aims and objectives of organization and a commitment to humanitarian principles and the Red Cross and INGO's code of conduct
Achieving Results effectively:

Very good time management abilities.
Very good judgment and problem-solving skills
Very good decision-making

Developing and maintaining relationships:
Very good team management skills and the ability to lead a team from different background and skills.
Very good verbal and written communications skills and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.

The ability to remain calm while dealing with conflicting priorities and working under pressure.
Operating safely and securely in a humanitarian response:

Relevant experience in implementing security policy/protocols.
Leadership in humanitarian response:

High-level interpersonal, influencing and communications skills.
Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
EDUCATION: 

Bachelor degree in any field of knowledge preferably (engineering, sociology, medical background)
Knowledge of the political situation and cultural norms in Jordan in general is desired
Minimum 1 year experience in NGO.
Experience in staff management, capacity building and training of workers
Languages:

Very good spoken and written English
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic
