Makani Center Monitor


TITLE: Makani Monitor
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Education Implementation
LOCATION: Amman-Wadi Alseer
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post require  contact with children or young people
ROLE PURPOSE: 
The Monitor is responsible for the managemnt of a learning center. S/he will have contant with staff, young people and childten and parents.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Technical Expertise
  • Provide overall supervision to all activities implemented in the center.
  • Ensure that all activities with children, adolescents and parents in the learning center are planned efficiently, effectively and are of sustainable impact, based on accepted best practices. And are implemented appropriately.
  • Supervise the registration of children in Makani center, and introduce the components of the learning support services program.
  • develope the general plan of the Learning Center  and the plan for the educational cycle in LSS program.
  • Supervise the diagnostic tests and placing the children in sublevels accordingly. 
  • Manages facilitators and animators working full time
  • Responsible for enrolment of children, and attendance records.
  • Oversee the implementation of a range of psychosocial support (PSS) services, LS and basic literacy and numeracy activities.
  • Oversee the project deliverables in conducting awareness-raising activities pertaining to child rights (including child labor laws in Jordan, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and other protection related laws).
  • Refers children to formal education and to existing informal and non-formal education service providers where necessary.
  • Establish community committee and organize a periodic meetings of it’s members.
  • Schedule the movement of buses according to the areas of children gathering, and track it.
  • Ensure a safe and friendly atmosphere within the center
  • Assist the animators in solving problems arising in the center
  • Ensure a variety of structured games and activities for the children in the center
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate conflict-solving behaviors
  • Be lead for a parent/teacher committee, and conduct regularly meetings including minutes taking in order to identify issues or problems for groups or specific children in the center.
  • Screen for and monitor protection issues in the center and coordinate with child protection team for case referring. 
  • Documenting in a timely manner, all progress challenges, and learning for future implementation 
  • Report weekly in writing on the progress of the running of the center.
  • Plan and initiate procurement for the center based on the needs and budget available. 
  • Monitor and plan budget and expenditure in a timely manner for proper Planning, reporting and adjustment.
  • observe and record the attending rates, disaggregated by gender and level within the classroom on a daily basis.
  • Insure that all children’s data and results be entered to Bayanati system.
  • observae and record the availability, condition and usage of water, electricity and sanitation facilities at the learning center.
  •  inspect and record the overall condition of the learning spaces including the availability of furniture as well as the basic teaching-learning materials.
  •  observe and record  school safety including secure learning spaces, play area and fencing of the learning center on a daily basis.
  • Responsible of daily distribution of school feeding, stationary and school items, and reporting the total numbers of distributed items.
  • Responsible of tracking  & collecting  data of absence and drop out students according to the approved form.
  • Commitment to and understanding of child rights, Save the Children’s aims, values and principles and humanitarian standards as Sphere Charter and Code of Conduct.

General
  • Ensures adherence to the Child Safeguarding Policy and reporting procedures
  • Ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter, the Red Cross Code of Conduct
  • Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of crisis or emergency.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Competencies QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor or diploma in the humanitarian field
  • Experience of not less than two years in a similar field.
  • Knowledge of the local Jordanian context.
  • Has knowledge of the procedures between the Unified Labor Organizations (SOP), and knowledge of the initial psychological aid treatment.
  • a high degree of interpersonal and communication, including the influence, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Ability to monitor and support strong program planning and implementation.
  • Excellent conflict management, training, facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organize a demanding workload comprised of diverse and challenging tasks and responsibilities
